SKATER GIRL
Heidi Zumbrun is a fine art and commercial photographer based in Los Angeles. A visual story- teller deeply rooted in the California surf and motorcycle worlds, her vision provides a unique mix of first-hand photographic diary and artistic subtlety applied to a cross section of beach and street cultures. Zumbrun’s editorial perspective is fueled by a love of quality design, good waves, road trips and two wheels. Her work is informed by her insider’s viewpoint, which is particularly evident in the disarmed, personal energy of her portraiture.
Zumbrun received a BFA from UC Santa Barbara and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. With a career spanning a trio of decades, her photographs have been exhibited internationally & domestically and are currently included in the permanent collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Berkeley Museum, Denver Museum, and the Ulrich Museum. She is a recipient of the Phelan Award, Alexander Gerbode Foundation Award, the Artadia Fund for Art & Dialogue, and a winner of Whalebone Magazine’s 2020 photography contest in the “adventure & joy” category. Gallery representation has included Stephen Wirtz Gallery, San Francisco; Ariel Meyerowitz Gallery, New York; Fay Gold Gallery, Atlanta; Galerie Edward Mitterrand, Geneva; Galerie Valerie Cueto, Paris.
Zumbrun’s artwork has been extensively featured in magazine and book publications such as The Unseen Eye by W.M Hunt, Playboy, Moto Heroes Magazine, Men’s File Magazine, Meta, ELLE, InStyle, Glamour, Photo District News, BRUMMM Chronicles, Dice Magazine, among many others.
