Luke Mack is a Southern California based multidisciplinary artist focusing on figurative realism, graphic design, illustration, and installation work. Originally from Detroit, Luke has been exhibiting oil paintings, sculptures, and graphic imagery in galleries and events since 2009 in Detroit, Colorado, Spain, and California. Working full time as an automotive designer, Mack takes inspiration from industrial design trends, graffiti, skateboarding, nature, and sampling found in hip hop music. Color is also a large focus of his work; creating palettes and tones that are inspired by nature while adding bright and vibrant tones that stand out. Overall, Luke is interested in capturing movement within a still image and combining realism with graphic elements in a way that allows the viewer’s eye to alternate between looking “into” the image’s photographic elements and looking “at” the image’s graphic elements to create a new feeling altogether.
