Mike Townsend is a photographer and surfer based in Newport Beach, CA. His background in retail paved the way for his current operation, Album Surf, a surf/beach lifestyle showroom and website. A seven-year stint in New York got him interested in photography, and Mike now produces content, including writing and video, for both web and print. Mike Townsend was born in Southern California, but didn’t begin shooting portraits and lifestyle photographs until he moved to New York in his early 30s to continue working in the fashion industry. Upon returning to California eight years later, his disparate passions for surfing, the camera, and his home state merged into compelling water photography. He has spent the last few years on the road with his wife and small dog shooting surf culture from Baja California, Mexico, to Washington State.
